Before I completely do away with 2006 I thought I’d look back at some things that were memorable about last year.
- The death of Don Knotts. Who’s funnier than Don Knotts? And which local law enforcement official does he most remind you of?
- The Earlham 4th of July parade. Not too hot and lining up at the school now is a stroke of pure genius!
- The first day the “barn” was open at the Dexter park. Makes me wish spring was already here.
- The bad and good of car buying. Although I must say that for an overall great experience Des Moines Chrysler probably will get more of my business in the future.
- Finding RFD TV. Twenty four hour a day programming, trains, antique tractors and all day cow auctions. Whoee, that’s something I can sink my teeth into!
- Tailgating at the ISU games. A great time even if the games kind of stunk.
- Relearning just what happens at 5:45 each morning.
- Driving around the countryside on nice warm summer evenings and discovering all sorts of new places close to home I never knew existed.
- The first day of school when the littlest one boarded the bus meaning all the kids were now starting their journey out of the nest.
- Learning that fish was actually considered meat.
Well, let’s start the new year off right. I’ll raise a toast to some more good memories! See you next week…Remember, we’re all in this together.
