It is finally time to take down the old calendar and put up a new one and with it comes the opportunity to look ahead to the New Year. I sometimes wonder why we need a change of the calendar to decide that it is time to change things in our lives. Couldn’t we just start any time we wanted to make a change, or do we feel that subconsciously we need the start of a new year to cast away the old and begin anew?
I was going to sit down and work through a list of everything that I wanted to work on this year, but to be quite honest I’ve spent the entire weekend huddled under a blanket trying to keep my fingers from freezing up. I’m not a fan of cold weather, not in the least, which makes me wonder why I live where the air hurts my face. I’m not a fan of really hot weather either. Strange isn’t it? I’ve begun to understand why people from these parts move south where it seems to stay much warmer all year long.
Anyway, back to the whole New Year’s resolution and starting over thing. I’m going to keep this short, regardless of what you have decided needs changed, or what you want to do differently this year, do it with gusto. Take the bull by the horns and charge into it and do so with faith and relish. Relish? Only on a hot dog or maybe in tuna fish, wait, where was I? Oh right, just go forth and live. Don’t let the little things chase you off the path you want and remember that not everything that presents itself to you will be how it seems. Just be yourself and be happy, because in the end you are the only person who has the power to change. See you next week…(hopefully not nearly as cold)…remember, we’re all in this together.
