The WCV voters head to the polls this Tuesday for another stab at a bonding issue to build a new school. Although there is some confusion as to what exactly is being voted on, it will be interesting to see how this turns out. There is a group who are starting a No, No, Yes campaign. The vote in three parts asks for money to build a new high school in Stuart, to allow for local option sales tax money to pay down the bonds and the last question asks if voters want two elementary or the district wide elementary in Dexter. To the No, No, Yes campaign…I see what you are doing…and it makes some sense in a strange round about way.

I don’t often ask you to go to websites and sign petitions, but this one popped up in my email box this week. For those of you who live anywhere near Wiscotti to DeSoto or anywhere close and oppose the damming of the Raccoon River for “Dream Lake” please go and sign this petition. Development for the sake of development is wrong, and continued destruction of our natural resources is wrong. To sign the petition visit http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/stopdreamlakeiowa/

Drake lost….my bracket is busted and once again the 8 year old daughter of someone here at the office will be winning the basketball pool.

Is spring coming? I’ve seen the robins around, watched ducks flying north and been out in the yard raking gravel out of the yard when it started snowing.

There are two holidays I really like…Easter and Halloween…Both because I really feel it necessary to sift through the kids’ candy before they eat it. I think they probably found that most of their peanut butter eggs are unfit to eat…mostly because they are waiting for me in the refrigerator freezer.

Good luck to the Odyssey of the Mind kids this weekend at State competition in Ames.

Finally this week. Maybe it’s a good week for everyone just to slow down and take a deep breath. Sometimes I think we run ourselves so hard that when life catches up to us we just hit a wall. I know that the weather isn’t the best, but maybe taking time for a nice walk would be good, for nothing else just to get some sun and clear our heads.
See you next week…remember, we’re all in this together.
