So you are burnt out. Your job has you pulling out your hair, your kids are driving you crazy making you check your calendar three or four times a day to see when they exactly start school. Your house is a wreck, your checkbook in the red and your wits at their end. What do you do? What is it that will make you get over this hump and make you want to peek your head out from under the covers each morning?
Just a few ideas from one who spends much of his life stressed out with a few pointers on relaxing and enjoying the ride.
I’ve found that sitting on the porch with a cool drink watching the birds play in the bird bath is a great way to relax. It’s peaceful and quiet, until the kids start yelling inside the house, the motorcycles scream as they fly by and you start to thinking just how much the birds are leaving presents all over your car that is parked under a tree…So maybe sitting on the porch isn’t such a great idea.
You might want to try swimming….It’s cool and refreshing. Except that you never really understood swimming lessons and your instructor suggested that you try scuba diving instead since you had a natural buoyancy to keep you on the bottom.
How about a nice peaceful walk. The great outdoors! Fresh air and it’s good for you. Except the outdoors is hot, blistering hot, and now you are hot and sweaty and you look horrible all hot and sweaty! What if someone sees you walking all hot and sweaty? How will you show your face at Casey’s in the morning?
Which only leaves one way, one true way to reduce stress and relax. Take a nap! A long restful, peaceful, air conditioned nap. You’ll thank me for it.
See you next week….Remember, we’re all in this together.
