It’s way too early in harvest to be this stressed out so …random thoughts.

Joel Lanning’s performance against Oklahoma this past Saturday was fun to watch. I think sometimes we as fans get to wound up and forget that in the end it is simply just a game. Watching a group of kids just having fun playing the game was nice although watching them win was awesome!

Harvest stress is starting to show. The rain, although much needed, hasn’t been very cooperative to those who need to get crops out and to those who have to do something with those crops. Just remember folks we have a long way to go yet, so be safe and don’t take shortcuts.

I’ve managed to remember my lunch every day but one in the last month. The one day I took the lunchbox but forgot to put anything in it. I take that as a victory.

Speaking of weather. Not that I want to have to turn the heat on, but a good hard freeze would be welcome by me, if for nothing else than getting rid of the flies.

I’ve not heard any stories about the great zucchini fairy this year so it must have been a slow crop. The tomatoes just keep coming and coming though.

I have been noticing those little “libraries” on a post popping up in communities I’ve been through lately. I think they are a very interesting and fun idea.

I received a phone call from one of my most favorite people the other day to ask me what I knew about pigs. My answer was that they grew into tasty bacon. A+ answer if you ask me.

Would you believe someone used the “S” word the other day when talking about the first week of November? They were promptly and severely ridiculed.

I’ve been reading an online series discussing the role of millennials and the church. For as many who want the “rock band” experience there are just as many who want a church that not only preaches the word of God but lives it. What I’ve yet to find is why many are staying away from church all together. I think that issue has to be corrected before you can decide any others.

Finally this week…another birthday has come. I don’t know that I feel my age most days and I’m pretty sure that I am not where I thought I would be at this point in my life, but hasn’t it been a worthwhile journey so far? I think I might like to see what the next few years has in store before I head down the midlife crisis road. And for the record, whoever said you can’t have your cake and eat it too has never had a birthday. See you next week….remember, we’re all in this together.
