Consider this quote from Abe Lincoln

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

Paint me with red and white stripes and call me a candy cane….it’s random thoughts…

  1. I am not a fan of cold, so it was no surprise that bone chilling cold like we saw over this past weekend made me even crankier than usual. No matter how many layers of socks I wore or how many blankets I covered myself with I couldn’t keep my feet warm. It probably is another thing that needs added to my list of reasons to move south in the winter.

  2. I’m only about three fourths through with shopping for Christmas this year and I’m struggling to find good gifts, which is odd because generally I’m spot on when it comes to getting the perfect thing.

  3. If you have always wanted to see the MLB championship trophy you will have your chance sometime next year when the Chicago Cubs Trophy Tour comes to Des Moines. You know I’ll be there.

  4. Is there anything more confusing than the annual health care benefit sign up? It probably is one of the most stressful parts of my job every year, mostly because you are locking in things for an entire year during a time when you really don’t have the ability to do proper research.

  5. My year as State FFA Alumni president is coming to a close and it only seems to get busier as the moment to pass the gavel approaches. The part of miss that will miss helping to shape the way FFA Alumni conducts business at the state level is countered with the part of me that will be happy to be able to put my time to helping FFA members more at the local levels.

  6. I fell asleep after the Green Bay-Chicago football game on Sunday and woke up to professional drone racing on television. Drone racing? That’s a thing?

  7. For those of you who have been asking…my little friend Mara is doing as well as can be hoped. It will be a long process of treatment still to come so prayers and good thoughts are still much appreciated. You can follow her story at www.miracleformara.com

  8. Finally this week, it is my hope that in this special season that you each find joy and hope in the birth of the child. Merry Christmas my friends…see you next week…remember, we’re all in this together.
